چکیده

By using the analytical superasymmetric fission model it is shown that all "stable" nuclei lighter than lead with Z > 40 are metastable relative to the spontaneous emission of nuclear clusters. An even-odd effect is included in the Zero point vibration energy. Half-lives in the range 1040-1050 s are obtained for Z > 62. The region of metastability against these new decay modes is extended beyond that for a decay and in some cases, in the competing region, the emission rates for nuclear clusters are larger than for a decay.

2003 review of neutron and non-neutron nuclear data.

This paper reviews the scientific literature for new measurements of both non-neutron and neutron nuclear data. Some of the highlights of this review are the following items. There was a withdrawal of a previous claim for discovery of element 118. There have been new measurements of some isotopic abundance values that have led to changes for many elements. There was a new set of recommended sta...

Poly zirconium chloride (PZC) as an efficient adsorbent for 99 MO

This radionuclide is almost exclusively produced from the decay of its parent 99Mo. 99mTc is themost available and important nuclide used as a diagnostic agent in nuclear medicine. To develop anewly practical 99mTc generator using ( n,y ) 99Mo, an inorganic polymer adsorbent has beendeveloped framed with oxygen-zirconium-chlorine bonds with a high adsorption of Mo, Thepolyzirconium adsorbent wa...

An Overview of Isotope Geochemistry in Environmental Studies

Isotopes of many elements have been used in terrestrial, atmospheric, and aqueous environmental studies, providing powerful tracers and rate monitors. Short-lived nuclides that can be used to measure time are continuously produced from nuclear reactions involving cosmic rays, both within the atmosphere and exposed surfaces, and from decay of long-lived isotopes. Nuclear activities have produced...

Environmental Radiation

Environmental radiation permeates space, air soil, and water around us. It has been naturally present since the birth of Earth about 4.65 billion years ago in a massive supernova explosion creating the heavy elements on earth and the other rocky planets Mars, Venus and Mercury. Consequently, life has evolved in the ashes and remnants of this explosion which were gravitationally grabbed in space...

Proton-Neutron bonds in nuclides: Cis- and Trans-phasic assembly with the synchronous interaction

Existing theories are unable to build nuclear structures from the strong interaction upwards. This limitation applies to quantum chromodynamics, binding energies, the shell model, liquid-drop model, and the semiempirical mass formula. This paper solves part of this problem, starting from a non-local hidden variable (NLHV) design solution. The Cordus theory for the synchronous interaction (stron...
